Priyanka Gandhi lauds Rahul’s decision to quit as Congress president, says ‘few have your courage’

After Rahul Gandhi quit as party chief, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on Thursday, praised her brother’s “courageous decision” to take responsibility for the party’s disastrous performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha election and to step down as Congress president.

While referring to Rahul’s statement on resigning as party chief, Priyanka, in a tweet, said, “Few have the courage that you do, Rahul Gandhi. Deepest respect for your decision.”

Rahul Gandhi quit as the Congress president after his party’s thrashing in the Lok Sabha election, in which it got 52 seats. The Congress’s tally was just seven more than its 2014 election tally of 44.
