Narendra Modi says nobody would have imagined Congress leaders’ conviction in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case

A day after senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was convicted and sentenced to life, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said nobody would have imagined Congress leaders getting convicted in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

At an even hosted by Republic TV in Mumbai, Modi said, “Four years ago, nobody ever thought of Congress leaders getting convicted in the 1984 Sikh massacre and that people (victims) would get justice.”

While convicting Congress leader, the Delhi High Court said 1984 anti-Sikh riots were a “crime against humanity” by those who enjoyed “political patronage.”
