P Chidambaram says ‘invoking NSA in Madhya Pradesh cow-slaughter case was wrong’

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, on Friday, said, the Madhya Pradesh government’s decision to invoke the draconian National Security Act against three people arrested on charges of cow slaughter was “wrong” and Congress president Rahul Gandhi has asked the Kamal Nath government to correct the “mistake”.

Chidambaram said, “The government has been told that was wrong. I think the Congress president has told the people concerned that was wrong … Use of NSA in Madhya Pradesh was wrong. That has been pointed out to the government in Madhya Pradesh. So, if a mistake has been committed, that mistake has been pointed out by the leadership.”

The senior Congress leader said this while speaking at the release of his book – “Undaunted: Saving the Idea of India”, which a collection of his weekly columns in the Indian Express.
