The working president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Alok Kumar, said the impeachment process against CJI Dipak Misra was a ploy to delay in the Supreme Court’s hearing over the matter of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute and this has impacted Hindu-Muslim relations.

Talking to media on his expectations regarding the October 29 Supreme Court’s hearing on the case, Kumar said, “I really do not know. We are very tired of the court process. The appeals were filed in 2010. Therefore, we can only hope and expect that this time they would expeditiously hear it and decide. But I do not know if we can depend on it,” adding, “This delay impacted Hindu-Muslim relations. I believe if this matter had been resolved, it could have gone a long way in creating amicable relations.”

The VHP president then went on to say that the Congress’s move to impeach the chief justice of India, Dipak Misra, had no substance. The news conference by certain people (referring to the four most senior Supreme Court judges’ appearance before the media to speak against the working of Justice Misra) were deliberate … In my understanding it was a strategy to put pressure on him.”
