‘Emotional man’ Kumaraswamy says order to kill ‘not a big issue’
HD Kumaraswamy, the chief minister of Karnataka, described himself as an “emotional person”, to clarify his order to the police to kill the men involved in the murder of JD(S) worker Honnalagere Prakash. Kumaraswamy was caught on camera ordering the Mandya police chief to “mercilessly shootout” Prakash’s murder suspects.
Talking to a reporter, on Wednesday, he also defended his remarks by claiming that order to kill “wasn’t a big issue”.
Terming his remarks as “human tendency”, Kumaraswamy said, “That isn’t a big issue, that’s human tendency, in that kind of situation, any human being will react like that, I have clarified it already, that’s why I changed the word also, I’m an emotional person.”
He further said, “That was not an order as a chief minister. It was in anger. The perpetrators were out on bail and killed another man … I spoke to officers and changed the order to smoke out instead of shootout.”
While talking to the Mandya Police commissioner on Prakash’s murder, the chief minister was caught on video saying: “I don’t know how you will handle it. I am disappointed actually … he (the slain JDS worker) was a very good man … Mercilessly ‘shootout’ the people involved (in his killing) … don’t worry about it … don’t care about the consequences.”
