General Bipin Rawat.

The Army chief, General Bipin Rawat, said women cannot be assigned frontline combat roles because they have the responsibility of raising kids and will accuse jawans of peeping as she changes clothes.

In an interview to News18, Gen Rawat, on Saturday, said, “Our orders are that a lady officer will get a hut in the COB, then there are orders that we have to cocoon her separately. She will say somebody is peeping, so we will have to give a sheet around her.”

The Army chief further added to his statement that jawans from villages may not accept women as their leading officer.
