Union minister Nitin Gadkari said the coronavirus crisis has made the world look at possibilities away from China and that could be a blessing for India.

While speaking to NDTV, on Saturday, Gadkari, who also holds the portfolio for micro, small and medium enterprises in the Narendra Modi government, said, “World over every country is facing an economic crisis, (but) every country in the world, right now, does not want to trade with China, even though it is a super economic power. This is a blessing in disguise for us. This is an opportunity for us.”

Gadkari further said, “(We) will assign a joint secretary to convert new technology to investments to fulfil the prime minister’s vision of making India a five trillion-dollar economy.”

The new coronavirus, Covid-19, originated from China’s Wuhan and it took a while for China to acknowledge the outbreak, which resulted in the spread of the disease rapidly across the world. World leaders, including the US president, Donald Trump, has indicated that China might have deliberately allowed the virus to spread and become a pandemic.

Already, Japan has offered billions of dollars to its companies to move out their operations from China to other countries.
