The Bihar chief minister and leader of Janata Dal (United), Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday night, claimed that the BJP president, Amit Shah, suggested him twice to induct poll strategist Prashant Kishor into the JD(U).

At an event hosted by ABP News, in Patna, Kumar, while responding to queries on Kishor, said, “He was not a newcomer for us. He had worked with us in the 2015 assembly polls. For a brief period, he was busy elsewhere Please let it be known that none other than Amit Shah had asked me twice to induct Kishor in the JD(U).”

Kishor was introduced into the party in September 2018 and elevated to the post of national vice-president weeks later, which triggered speculations that the poll strategist was being groomed as Kumar’s political heir.

Nitish Kumar further added, "I have a lot of affection for Prashant Kishor. But please, let us not talk in terms of successors. This is not a monarchy.”

Reacting to this, RJD leader Lalu Prasad’s son and former Bihar deputy chief minister tweeted that the JD(U) is an “advanced version of the BJP” and crimes, like mob lynchings, have become common in Bihar.
