O Panneerselvam.

Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, on Wednesday, said he is ready to appear before the Arumughaswamy Commission that is probing the death of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa and promised to explain the truth.

He said, “I had informed (the panel) that I would appear later on a date mentioned by the commission … Whenever the Commission summons me, I will (appear before it and) explain the truth and my stand. The truth will be known there.”

He has clarified that he could not appear before the commission when summoned on January 23 because of scheduled date of the Global Investor’s Meet.

Panneerselvam and many other people had raised doubts on the circumstances leading to death of Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa was hospitalized on September 22, 2016 due to health complications. She died on December 5, 2016. Panneerselvam had demanded either a judicial inquiry or a CBI probe into her death. He has also accused Jayalalithaa’s close aide V K Sasikala for forcing him to quit the chief minister’s post he had taken over immediately after the death of Jayalalithaa.
