Shashi Tharoor takes a dig at Uttar Pradesh cabinet’s dip in Kumbh, says ‘everyone is naked in this Sangam’

Shashi Tharoor, who is known for his witty and sometimes controversial comments, took a dig at the Uttar Pradesh cabinet’s dip at Kumbh, on Wednesday. This prompted the BJP to accuse him of “insulting Hinduism” and making fun of the ongoing mega congregation of seers and pilgrims at Allahabad (Prayagraj).
Tharoor tweeted: “Ganga has to be kept clean and sins are also to be washed here. Everyone is naked in this Sangam. Hail mother Ganga.”

Tharoor’s tweet drew strong reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party, which accused the Congress member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram of insulting Hinduism by “ridiculing” the ongoing Kumbh Mela with “tacit support” from Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
