Sheila Dikshit slams media reports of her saying ‘Manmohan Singh wasn’t as strong as Narendra Modi on terror’

Former Delhi chief minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit slammed media reports of her purportedly saying former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh “wasn’t as strong and determined” as Prime Minister Narendra Modi in fighting terrorism.

Media, on Thursday, reported Dikshit as saying, “Manmohan Singh, yes, I agree with you, was not as strong and as determined as Modi is. But there is also a feeling that he is doing it all for politics,” when asked about the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government’s reaction after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in an interview with News18.

This sparked a controversy with Bharatiya Janata Party members claiming that it was an “honest admission” by the Congress senior leader of the “failure” of the Congress government in tackling terror.

As her statement sparked a controversy, she took to Twitter to clarify her context, “I have seen some media is twisting my comments made in an interview.” She added, “Here is what I said – it may seem to some people that Mr Modi is stronger on terror but I think this is a poll gimmick more than anything else.”
