Sitaram Yechury says CPM will be with DMK in 2019 Lok Sabha election
Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, on Tuesday, said his party was with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. He said this after meeting DMK leader MK Stalin at his residence in Chennai. However, he didn’t formally announce an alliance with the DMK.
Yechury said: “Alliances will always take place at the state level first. On that basis, a national alliance will take shape. We will be with the DMK in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming (general) election. We are together on the issue of saving the unity, integrity, and harmony of the people of India and the country’s constitutional institutions.”
