Sitaram Yechury says Narendra Modi’s TV announcement of A-SAT success was violation of election model code of conduct
Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury, on Wednesday, hailed the scientists for the successful test-firing of the anti-satellite missile (A-SAT), he assailed the prime minister, Narendra Modi, for “politicizing” it during election season when the model code of conduct is enforced. Yechury claimed that Modi “clearly violated” the election model code of conduct, which came into effect with the Election Commission’s announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates.
Yechury released his party’s statement on the issue and tweeted the following:
The country would like to know the special reasons why the Election Commission permitted the achievements of Indian scientists to be politically coloured during the course of the general elections. Our letter to the Election Commission: n/n pic.twitter.com/UAPeF4Xaso
