Uma Bharati.

Uma Bharati, Union minister and one of the senior leaders of the Ayodhya movement, in an interview with Times of India, said her decision of not contesting the Lok Sabha election is influenced by three characters – Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, Lord Hanuman and Maratha warrior king Shivaji.

On being questioned if the Bharatiya Janata party would miss her in 2019 Lok Sabha Election, Bharati said, “I am very impressed by three characters. One, Hanuman ji, two Che Guevara and third Shivaji. Che had won and he was with Fidel Castro, then suddenly, he left all the facilities and trappings of power and dies in another country while fighting. Similarly, Hanuman fought for everything and then sat at the feet of Lord Ram … and even Shivaji was like that.”

She then added, “Whenever I do things, I remember them. There is a time for everything. Now I want to work for Ganga rejuvenation in Uttarakhand and UP for next five years. For me, not becoming an MP and not being a minister is gaining more strength, though people are crying.”

Uma Bharati is the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Jhansi.
