Gen VK Singh.

Junior foreign minister and former Army chief General Vijay Kumar Singh said the situation in Kashmir was normal from 2005 to 2012 and wonder why the condition deteriorated after that. This is bound to raise some eyebrows within the BJP government as the Congress-led UPA government was in power during that period.

While speaking to reporters in Shimla, on Monday, where he went to attend a BJP event, Singh said he believes that the Pulwama terror attack would be avenged, but with “a cool mind” and “complete preparation”.

He said, “India does not prick others and when someone does then, it does not spare them too”.

Singh also said “Pakistan has been isolated globally” with over 40 countries reacting against the attack and to remove Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir, “coming together of all parties was a must”.

Singh said after such a huge incident a retaliatory strategy is being devised. On the issue of whether it would surgical strike or direct battle, he said patience should be exercised as “all answers would come with time”.
