Bhupesh Baghel.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, on Monday, claimed that the Hindu Mahasabha leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar sowed the first seeds of the “two-nation theory”, which was later implemented by Muhammad Ali Jinnah – the founder of Pakistan. The Partition is attributed to the “two-nation theory”.

Baghel said, “Savarkar, the leader of the Hindu Mahasabha, sowed the seeds of partition of the country, which was later implemented by Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”

Baghel then took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “The biggest strength of people in a democratic system is to ask questions. (Jawahar Lal) Nehru ji was its supporter but today you can’t question the prime minister.”

Baghel, who is also the Chhattisgarh Congress president, said Nehru was a true democrat.
