CJI Ranjan Gogoi says ‘always wanted to be like Justice YK Sabharwal’

The chief justice of India, Justice Ranjan Gogoi said he always wanted to be like former CJI Yogesh Kumar Sabharwal. He said he always idolized him for his “courage and fearless attitude” and has been very impressed by him.
Justice Gogoi was speaking during the release of a book on Justice Sabharwal – “Beyond The Name: Justice YK Sabharwal – A Fulfiling Journey”, on Monday.
Speaking about the former CJI, who passed away in 2015, Justice Gogoi said, “I have always been a fan of Justice Sabharwal. Secretly I wanted to be a lawyer and judge like him for his clarity and precision of thought, flow and flair of language. I always admired him as the chief justice. I am truly honored to be here.”
Justice Gogoi said while remembering the former CJI’s contribution that he was the one who revived the legal fight of LGBT community for decriminalizing homosexuality.
