Gen VK Singh (retired).

While denouncing the remark made by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, where he referred to the Indian Army as “Modiji ki sena”, junior foreign minister and Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha candidate from Ghaziabad, General VK Singh (retired) said that those who call the Army “Modiji ki sena” are traitors. Gen Singh is a former Army chief.

Singh, while speaking to the BBC, said, “Which army are you talking about? Are we talking about the Indian Army or the army of political workers of BJP? I do not know the reference here. If somebody says the Indian Army is the army of Modi, he is not only wrong, but a traitor. The Indian Army belongs to India, not to any political party.”

While maintaining that he did not know the reference of the remark, Singh said, “I do not know who has spoken this. There may be one or two people who thinks like this because they have nothing to show for themselves.”

The Election Commission, on Wednesday, has issued a show-cause notice against CM Adityanath for referring the Indian Army as “Modiji ki sena” while addressing rally in Ghaziabad.
