HD Deve Gowda says ‘no hesitation in backing Rahul Gandhi as new prime minister’

Former Prime Minister and the founder of the Janata Dal (Secular), HD Deve Gowda, said he will not hesitate backing Rahul Gandhi as the next prime minister.

During an interview with Hindustan Times, which was published on Monday, when Gowda was asked if Rahul Gandhi is the natural candidate to be the coalition’s Prime Ministerial nominee, he agreed and said Rahul Gandhi is a young and upcoming leader and that since he was appointed the Congress president, he has gained a lot of experience, however, he added that there was “room for improvement” for him.

He said, “Yes. Rahul Gandhi is a young, upcoming leader. He was made president of the Congress a year back. From then, I have seen the quantum of experience he has gained, but there is room for improvement,” adding, “As a coalition partner, here I have no hesitation in extending my support. We want Rahul to be PM”.
