Narendra Modi slams Rahul Gandhi over his ‘why are all Modi thieves?’ remark, says he’s maligning entire community

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, assailed the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, over his “why are all Modis thieves?” remark. Modi said, by making this jibe, Rahul Gandhi had maligned the backward community he belongs to.

While addressing an election rally in Maharashtra’s Akluj, Modi said, “The Congress and its allies say that all Modis in the society are thieves. The Congress and its allies have not kept any shortcomings in abusing of my backward caste. This time they have crossed the limits and abused the entire backward society.”

He further slammed Gandhi by saying, “The ‘naamdar’ (big name) first tried ‘chowkidar chor hain’. Now they are trying to defame a backward community (community Modi belongs to). Being from a backward community, I am used to the suffering … the Congress has been defaming me for several years over my backward community background.”
