Sakshi Maharaj.

Sakshi Maharaj, BJP member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi on the latter’s food habit, on Sunday. Continuing his tirade against the Congress president, he said Gandhi belonged to a “family of thieves”. Maharaj then went on to challenge Gandhi to fight the Lok Sabha election from Unnao, his turf, and win from there.

The BJP has been continuously attacking Gandhi over Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrimage calling it a “gimmick”.

Maharaj said if Gandhi is devotee of Lord Shiva and Lord Ram, he is an “impure” devotee as he eats non-vegetarian food. According to a news report, Maharaj said, “To become a Shiv bhakt or Ram bhakt, one needs purity … You are going to Mansarovar and then eating non-vegetarian.”

While challenging Gandhi to be able to become an MP from any state this election, Maharaj said, “If I lose from Unnao, I will leave politics and if Rahul Gandhi loses, then he should leave the country and go to Italy.”

Maharaj said, “Rahul Gandhi’s family is a ‘family of thieves’ … from Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, what did his grandfather do, what did Indira do? … Congress is a party of thieves,” adding “Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Gandhi’s sister) would not be able to do much for him this time.”
