Rahul Gandhi attacks Narendra Modi on Rafale deal again, calls him ‘corrupt’
Congress president Rahul Gandhi again attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale warplane deal and alleged that the prime minister has indulged in corruption.
Recalling Modi’s 2014 remarks that he wanted to be a “chowkidaar” for the country, Gandhi, on Thursday, said, “Now it has come to light that he is not India’s but Anil Ambani’s (Reliance group chairman) ‘chowkidaar (watchman)’.” Gandhi then said the prime minister should resign if he is unable to respond to the charges on the Rafale deal.
Addressing a news conference at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi on the Rafale deal, Gandhi said the Mediapart report and Hollande’s statement had “made it clear that the prime minister gave Rs 30,000 to Anil Ambani”.
Earlier in a tweet, Gandhi said:
The #GreatRafaleCoverUp has begun. To try and show the deal is legit, Raksha Mantri will need to generate minutes of imaginary meetings held between the French & our MOD & both sides will need to agree on a common story to be spun to the media.
