The Union home minister, Rajnath Singh, on Tuesday, stated that he would not celebrate Holi this year in the wake of the Pulwama terrorist attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. The attack was carried by a suicide bomber belonging to the Jaish-e-Muhammed terrorist outfit. The Central Reserve Police Force, which is a paramilitary organization, operates under the Union home ministry.

This is not the first time Singh didn’t celebrate the festival of colours owing to attacks on the CRPF, which resulted in the deaths of many personnel. In 2017, he did not celebrate Holi following a Maoist attack in Sukma, which claimed the lives of 12 CRPF personnel.

After the Pulwama attack, the Indian Air Force conducted air strikes on a Jaish camp in Balakot, Pakistan.
