Shashi Tharoor says ‘education is most important for upholding human rights’

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, on Saturday, said, “Education is the most important instrument for upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

While speaking at the first convocation of St Xavier’s University, Kolkata, Tharoor added that education is needed to resolve disputes through democratic dialogue and effective leadership.

Tharoor, who represents Thiruvananthapuram constituency in the Lok Sabha, also said, “The society takes recourse to the force of education to challenge hate-mongering and divisive agenda.”
