In his first interview of 2019, given to news agency ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about various issues including the Ram temple, Triple Talaq Bill and Sabarimala. Speaking to ANI’s Smita Prakash, on Tuesday, the prime minister said any decision over the Ram temple issue will come after the judicial process gets over.

He said, “We have said in our BJP manifesto that a solution would be found to this issue under the ambit of the Constitution,” he added. He also targeted the opposition, Congress for creating obstacles in the Supreme Court and slowing down the judicial process.”

Mentioning about the Triple Talaq Bill, he said that the verdict was given by the Supreme Court itself. And most Islamic countries have banned instant triple talaq. It (triple talaq) is not a matter of faith but gender equality and social justice.

On Sabarimala, he said, “There are some temples which have their own traditions, where men can’t go, and men don’t go … In this case, a woman judge (who was in the 5-member Constitution bench that delivered the verdict) has made certain observations (referring to Justice Indu Malhotra’s differences in her judgment on the issue).”

The prime minister also added that there is no need to link it to any political party.
