Congress president Rahul Gandhi, while addressing in an election rally in poll-bound Rajasthan’s Jhalawar, on Wednesday, assailed the prime minister, Narendra Modi, for the removal of CBI director Alok Verma.

Addressing the crowd, Gandhi said, “Do you know what happened last night? CBI director was seeking Rafale documents … you know the story of Rafale.” Then imitating Modi’s 2014 Lok Sabha campaign words, Gandhi said, “Mitron (friends), make call me the prime minister but a chowkidar (watchman).”

Then he went on to say, “The chowkidar purchased Rs 526 crore aircraft for Rs 1,600 crore. The chowkidar put Rs 30,000 crore in Anil Ambani’s pockets … last night, the chowkidar removed the CBI director because CBI was raising questions on Rafale.”

Gandhi also tweeted something similar Wednesday.
