Jyotiraditya Scindia.

After his appointment as the All India Congress Committee general secretary and given charge for western Uttar Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia said the Bharatiya Janata Party should look within before pointing fingers on “dynasties” in politics.

In an interview to Indian Express, responding to a question on BJP senior leaders attacking Priyanka Gandhi’s appointment as Congress general secretary as “dynastic politics”, Scindia said, “The BJP has a habit of constantly decrying and demolishing democracy”.  … I think the BJP should look within before slandering those who are not part of the BJP regarding dynasts. The BJP has its fair share of dynasts. And, I think, to be able to pass a comment like that is to paint everyone with the same brush and I think that’s what the BJP does best.”

The Congress, on Wednesday, made Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, the daughter of Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi and sister of Rahul Gandhi, a party general secretary and given her the charge of eastern UP for this year’s Lok Sabha election. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the son of deceased senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia, has been made another general secretary and given the charge of western UP.
