Oommen Chandy gives credit to Navjot Singh Sidhu for captured Indian Air Force MiG-21 pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s return
The Indian Air Force pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after his MiG-21 was brought down during an aerial engagement between Pakistan and India, returned to India, on Friday night.
Several Political leaders showed their happiness and support over his homecoming, Oommen Chandy was one of them. The senior Congress leader and former Kerala chief minister, after Abhinandan’s return, praised Navjot Singh Sidhu while crediting him for the pilot’s swift return.
He tweeted: “Thank you for the real efforts of Navjot Singh Sidhu and the goodwill of Pakistani PM Imran Khan. I hope peace will be on both sides of the border.”

Replying to which, Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote: “Your enthusiasm has increased my courage several times. Your words give me the strength to boldly follow the path of truth and never compromise with moral values . It is necessary to collapse if the principles apply, if alive, then it must be seen alive.”

Sidhu had called for diplomacy and dialogue to address and solve the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, which started from the Pulwama suicide bombing.
